BIOGRAPHIES
Linda,
a Webster Groves native, has been a musician her entire life. Throughout
her early years, she honed her entertainment skills in church, in "Up
With People" and school choirs and beyond high school as a solo act
and in bands. In addition to singing for weddings and in coffeehouses,
she has written and performed her own music while also covering her favorite
artists. In the 70s, she played venues in Tulsa, St. Louis and Kansas
City, where she met and enjoyed Roberta's musical style. In the 80s, when
she began her family, she concentrated on studio work at MusicMasters
in St. Louis and the occasional "gig" with friend Baker and
other musicians. In the 90s, the project "Baker's
Songs for Children" (Baker and Linda) was born, all original
songs with positive messages for children of all ages. And then came this
opportunity to reunite with Roberta and Baker to play the music that we
loved then and the new music that we love now. MUSYC
is a joy.
Roberta
is originally from the Kansas City area and performed with the bands "Amberwood,"
(with Linda) "Arion" and "Touchstone"
during the 70s and 80s. She moved to St. Louis in 1985 to complete her
education and to pursue a nonmusical career. She has kept her hand in,
however, singing for the occasional wedding or corporate
gig, composing witty parody songs for friends and coworkers and performing
the National Anthem for the Blues, Billikens, River City Rascals, River
Otters and other local sports teams. 'Berta also performs in independent-
and assisted living residences as TallBerta.
'Berta had been seeking the right environment to re-enter the musical
field, and was absolutely thrilled to be reunited in a band with Linda.
She has been a longtime fan of Baker's other band, "Ticket
To The Beatles." The MUSYC project is the right
music at the right time with the right blend of friends who just happen
to be superb musicians.
Baker
is a diversified professional musician who is also the founder and current
member of "Ticket
To The Beatles". His performing roots began in the late 60s with
his love of the music of James Taylor, Crosby, Stills and Nash and other
folk-rock artists. Baker spent many years perfecting his James Taylor
imitation, and his "channeling" of JT's style is always a source
of amazement and delight to MUSYC fans. This diverse
entertainer has also written and recorded over 60 original children's
songs along with Linda Chicoineau. Baker says that forming the band MUSYC
was like coming home and sitting on a big comfortable couch surrounded
by friends. Baker loves playing music that warms people's hearts. "We
want people to relax and enjoy a nice long moment of serenity in song."
